The following pages represent a condensation of material prepared mostly by Clarence E Kelso (1859-1939) of Escanaba, Michigan, Wilber M. Kelso of Oak Park Illinois, and Don R. Kelso of South Schroom, New York.
Clarence and Wilber Kelso gathered material for the Scottish period (1022 to 1750) from 1908-1934. Clarence, Don, Robert A. Kelso, and Joseph A. Kelso compiled the American part of the story to 1878. Robert and Joseph have developed the material from 1878 to present.
Sources for the Scottish Kelso included The Principal families in Ayrshire, by George Robertson, 1828, Burks History of the Commoners, 1834, The Old Pedigree of 1758 in the British Museum and information from Barrington Kelso in 1909.
Source material for Americans Alexander Kelso Jr., Margaret Kelso, and James B. Kelso came from the National Archives, The Bureau of Pensions in the Department of the Interior, and court house records in Morgan County, Indiana. The History of Roy Kelsos Army service comes from letters and photographs sent to his family. Subsequent details have come from Roberts memory and that of Ethel Nelson (Roys Daughter), Nancy Savage (Ethels daughter), and Anne Johnson, Roberts sister. The WWW was also very helpful in this latest edition.
This Latest edition was edited and published in October 1999, by Joe Kelso
